Metabolic Testing Information
Dear Client,
Below is a breakdown of the instructions prior to Metabolic Testing as well as a brief description.
Please be aware if you have a Heart condition, it must be cleared by a Physician. (Preferably a Cardiologist). Please print and have the form "Physician Clearance (Balance PT)" signed before your appointment with the Metabolic Assessor.
The Fat Efficiency Test (FET), and the resting metabolic rate test (RMR), both of these tests are scientific tests which measure your oxygen and carbon dioxide output in order to determine you metabolic rate at both exercise and at rest.
Firstly the FET, this is a proper medical test, you must fast before. You are exercised on a treadmill, and the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide you breathe out during this exercise is recorded. By completing this test we are able to find out expired O2 and CO2 levels which allows us to tell you which fuel source is being utilized during exercise.
The second test is the RMR, this test requires no exercise, it simply requires you to sit at rest for 10-15 minutes. During this time your oxygen and carbon dioxide output will again be measured. By doing this we are able to determine the amount of calories required by your body to functions on a basic level day to day.
